Rockstar's "Bully" Gets Unexpected Update Nearly Two Decades After Release

Great news for active Bullies, or people that have wanted to Bully but have never tried before.

Rockstar Games, renowned for its open-world behemoths like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, has surprised fans with a new update for Bully: Anniversary Edition, almost 20 years after the game's initial launch.

Bully, a fan-favorite that casts players as a mischievous student navigating the social hierarchies of Bullworth Academy, has long been the subject of sequel speculation. While reports suggest Rockstar Games had considered a Bully 2 in the past, the project was allegedly shelved to prioritise Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online.

Despite no sequel in sight, Rockstar hasn't completely forgotten about the game. In 2023, Bully was added to the GTA+ subscription service. Now, the Anniversary Edition of Bully has received a substantial update focusing on the iOS and Android versions of the game.

The update addresses a multitude of issues that have plagued the mobile port. It introduces new features like haptic feedback and implements fixes to improve game stability on 64-bit mobile operating systems and supported devices. Rockstar's patch notes also suggest that further updates may be on the horizon as the developer continues to investigate lingering issues.

Key Fixes and Improvements:

  • General: Haptic feedback implemented on iOS and Android.
  • Content: Fixes for progression-stopping bugs in missions such as "That Bitch," "Weed Killer," "The Rumble," and more.
  • Game Stability and Performance: Numerous crash fixes, improved touch controls, and optimizations for various mobile devices and GPUs.

A comprehensive list of patch notes can be found here.

This unexpected update offers a glimmer of hope for Bully fans, demonstrating that Rockstar Games still acknowledges the title's dedicated following.
