Nintendo Boosts Switch Online SNES Library with Four New Titles

Fans of Nobunaga's Ambition are in for a treat
Nintendo has enriched its Switch Online service by adding four Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) titles, now available to subscribers as of today. Announced last week, this update brings a mix of strategy, turn-based, and role-playing games to the platform, further enhancing its retro offerings. The newly added titles are:
- Nobunaga's Ambition: This historical strategy game places players in 16th-century Japan as feudal lords vying for control, with Oda Nobunaga at the centre of the power struggle. Its intricate blend of diplomacy and conquest offers a deep, cerebral experience.
- Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness: A sequel with refined mechanics, this title challenges players to unify Japan across two sprawling scenarios, managing generals and resources amid intense warfare. Its darker tone and expanded features make it a standout in the series.
- Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire: Set during China’s chaotic Three Kingdoms era, this strategy classic tasks players with unifying a fractured nation through military might and cunning diplomacy. Its detailed roster of officers and tactical depth remain impressive decades later.
- Uncharted Waters: New Horizons: This seafaring adventure lets players choose from six protagonists, each with unique storylines, to explore the globe, trade goods, and battle pirates. Its open-ended exploration and RPG elements offer a refreshing contrast to the lineup’s strategy focus.
Nintendo released a trailer spotlighting these games, showcasing their distinct gameplay styles. This update follows a Game Boy library boost earlier in March, featuring Donkey Kong and Mario Picross, keeping the retro momentum alive. An active Switch Online membership is required to dive in.
Meanwhile, Super Soccer was removed from the service on March 27th, 2025 (or March 28th, depending on region), marking a rare delisting from the catalog.
