mClassic Graphics Upscalers Tailored for Switch and Retro Gaming get first Discounts

Upscale your experience at the best price yet!

Marseille's mClassic upscalers and image enhancers have been reduced by 15% and all three models are currently on sale for $85 (originally $100) as part of Amazon's Big Spring Sale.

The original mClassic continues to be manufactured, offering a versatile solution for both modern and retro gaming. However, the new editions cater to specific needs with specialized features and visual modes.

mClassic Graphics Upscalers – $85 (was $100)

  • Original Edition: Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and retro platforms
  • Switch Edition: Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, other 16:9 platforms
  • Retro Edition: Retro games with 4:3 aspect ratio (N64, PS2, GameCube, SNES, etc.)

Original mClassic: A Hybrid Approach

The original mClassic provides a combination of features for both widescreen (16:9) and 4:3 aspect ratio games. It offers visual upgrades and anti-aliasing technology to improve picture quality and performance. For consoles with HDMI, like the Switch, PS3, and Xbox 360, setup involves simply plugging the mClassic between the console and the TV using HDMI cables and the included power cable. The device can upscale Switch games up to 1440p at 60fps and enhances the playability of pre-HD consoles like the SNES and GameCube on modern TVs. A switch on the device allows users to toggle between "modern" and "retro" modes, with a third setting to disable the graphics processing.

mClassic Switch Edition: Focused on Modern Widescreen Gaming

The mClassic Switch Edition hones in on modern gaming platforms with widescreen aspect ratios. While compatible with Steam Deck, PS3, and Xbox 360, its primary focus is the Nintendo Switch. It offers the same core enhancement features as the original model, with the capability of upscaling to 1440p at 60fps.

The Switch Edition introduces two new visual modes:

  • Switch Plus: Replicates the visual fidelity of the Switch handheld mode on a TV.
  • Switch Enhance Mode: Aims to replicate the improved contrast and clarity of OLED TVs, particularly in dark scenes.

mClassic Retro Edition: Re-Experience Classic Games

The mClassic Retro Edition is specifically designed for consoles that output in a 4:3 aspect ratio. It has three distinct modes:

  • Retro Mode: Displays games in their original 4:3 aspect ratio with upscaled resolution.
  • Vintage Mode: Replicates the picture and audio qualities of CRT TVs in a 4:3 aspect ratio, prioritizing authenticity.
  • Vintage Enhance Mode: A hybrid mode that balances visual fidelity improvements with the authentic look of classic games.

Note: For retro consoles without an HDMI port, an adapter is required to connect to the mClassic.

Additional Considerations

Marseille recommends locking the Nintendo Switch to 720p while docked for optimal results with the mClassic.

The company claims the mClassic adds minimal latency (approximately 0.2ms) and offers lossless audio passthrough. To fully realise the benefits of the mClassic, a TV or monitor with 1440p or 4K resolution support is recommended, though picture quality improvements can still be observed on 1080p displays.
