BleemNet Kickstarter Campaign Offers A "Digital Retro Marketplace"

From PS1 to Dreamcast to DRM free retro gaming for all.
Bleem.net has a Kickstarter campaign for a multifaceted retro gaming platform that aims to preserve and distribute classic games through both digital and physical channels. The ambitious project will include a DRM-free digital marketplace, game streaming, physical media production, and various subscription-based content services designed to appeal to both casual players and dedicated collectors.
At the core of the platform is a digital storefront offering games in multiple formats, from original binary files for emulation enthusiasts to pre-configured executables for less technical users. The marketplace will support both commercial licensing for businesses and indie developer submissions, creating an ecosystem that bridges preservation with new content creation.
The platform's subscription model will provide members with discounts on purchases, access to an on-demand game streaming service, and exclusive content, including digital comics and behind-the-scenes development archives. Unlike cloud-based alternatives, Bleem.net's game streaming technology is built on a modified version of Webrcade that eliminates input lag, promising authentic gameplay experiences.

Physical media remains central to Bleem.net's vision, with plans to produce both new retro games in traditional production runs and on-demand printing for out-of-production titles. Modern games will also be offered in limited quantities, with subscribers receiving priority access to combat scalping.
Beyond gaming, Bleem.net will feature a free streaming channel with dubbed video game content, supplemented by a video-on-demand library for subscribers. The platform will also sell merchandise, toys, and comics inspired by classic gaming intellectual properties, with subscribers receiving digital comics and merchandise discounts.
Plans include game modification tools that would allow subscribers to alter games in the platform's library, potentially leading to commercial releases of these modified versions. The company also plans to organize in-person events for subscribers, initially focused on Europe, before expanding to North America.
Bleem.net is actively seeking partnerships with archival websites, educational institutions, and preservation organizations, offering affiliate programs and special pricing for eligible partners.
This comprehensive approach to retro gaming distribution could represent a significant shift in how classic games are preserved and experienced. The Kickstarter is running until 1st May 2025, to achieve ~$80,000, and at the time of writing has achieved around 10% of this ambitious goal.
