3D-Printed Cover Now Available for RetroTime NES Hub

A first reported on RetroRGB - a new 3D-printed cover plate for the RetroTime NES Hub, a Bluetooth and expansion audio adapter for the front-loading Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), is now available for download and printing. Designed by creator Jace, the cover has been tested by RetroTime and confirmed to fit seamlessly, offering a practical accessory for owners of the device. The files are accessible on Printables and MakerWorld, allowing users to print their own or utilise online printing services.

The NES, launched by Nintendo in 1985, remains a cornerstone of gaming history, selling over 61 million units worldwide and introducing iconic titles like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. The RetroTime NES Hub enhances this classic console by connecting to its underutilised bottom expansion port, enabling support for up to four Bluetooth controllers and expansion audio for Famicom cartridges or ROM carts. Since its release, the hub has been praised for its plug-and-play design and compatibility with modern controllers, earning positive feedback from retro gaming enthusiasts for its ease of use and minimal latency, thanks to its integration of the open-source BlueRetro platform. Jace’s 3D-printed cover addresses a practical need, providing a protective and aesthetic finish to the hub’s exposed port. While RetroTime has no current plans to sell the covers directly, the availability of free design files empowers the community to customize their setups. This aligns with the broader trend of retro gaming hardware modifications, where fans and creators collaborate to extend the life of vintage systems. The hub itself is available for purchase through Stone Age Gamer in the US and 8BitMods in the UK, with additional accessories like a SNES controller adapter also available.
